The Teutonic word Lent, which we employ to denote the forty days' fast preceding Easter, originally meant no more than the spring season. Still it has been used from the Anglo-Saxon period to translate the more significant Latin term quadragesima(French carême,Italianquaresima, Spanish cuaresma), meaning the "forty days", or more literally the "fortieth day". This in turn imitated the Greek name for Lent, tessarakoste (fortieth), a word formed on the analogy of Pentecost (pentekoste), which last was in use for the Jewish festival before New Testament times. In our childhood days, we do not put so much meaning on Lent and we do not remember much of it as a season of prayer and recollection, except that during this time of year, our lolas and lolos would tell us not to go out of our houses because of ‘mamarangs’ appearing in midday and of ‘irong buangs’ running around the streets during the day. It is almost a frightful feeling having to think about all those ugly, haggard-looking faces of the ‘mamarangs’ who, according to Mamay, had nails creeping out of their fingers and hairs standing only to pierce into your nostrils and then……it would be the end of the story. And ‘irong buangs’ too, with their lolling tongues and slimy fluids coming out, and of course, their long tails under their bodies….and with eyes as red as fire… And there also were the ‘anay nga nagbakya’ or the ‘tikbalang’ or worse, the so-called ‘tambaloslos’.
According to stories of the old, when the ‘tambaloslos’ smiles, the skin on his face would go down to his neck such that what will remain will be bones and bones and bones.... Stories of these remind us of our childhood and how we believe our lolos, lolas, ingkos, mamays and even our mamas and papas. And these stories come out during summer.
We can call them the KCIC kids, Knicks, cuties etc. but they're not completely brats. There is the indescribable sense of joy when you see them in the church or in any KCIC gatherings. Whenever we see them, we start to recall the good old times when our own parents brought us to church too. There where times too that we like better off playing than joining them.
The Knicks may be too resounding when you put them all together but you can't help exclaiming how lovable, adorable, charming and talented they are. Not only to the spirited kids we have now presently but I’m speaking about every KCIC Knick who has been a part of our lovely community because some of them have to either move abroad or go back to our homeland with their families. We missed all of them dearly. They will surely be remembered along and with the memories they had with them, the legacy continues as the little ones now grow with the number of kids in the community.
Man, this year has been busy like any other years. However, I'm always a happy KCICian knowing that we have this website to cherish and love. Though sometimes, echos can be heard from all its corners, coz people don't bother much participating lately, I make it a habit to glee myself that this website will be alive and nothing else goes with it but time itself.
The simplest rule for any website to work is only one and its called participation. Not even Ads or posters or guest shows from out-programs can help make a website grow. Its the people in it and their interaction that makes the cyber pendulum sway. Sprinkled with numerous users, a little creativity, and good internet conduct and manners, Surely everything will work great.
Believing and knowingthe real power of this website can help you motivate to be a good user.
So to crack things up, I could use a little slideshow in here for this week's article.

Pharaoh : 2012 Christmas party was good. everyone did their best to contribute to the success. The best part would probably be the peaceful atmosphere that surrounded that evening. The not-so-good part would probably be; we weren't still able to control the children during the program.
Pharaoh : first of all, thanks officers for that very successful meeting. However, i wasnt very satisfied with the too much pressure thats being placed on the tables. I say lets just enjoy what we are doing.
